Santa Clara County was recently ordered to make public the salaries of all their public employees. The list is found here:

The first seventy seven pages or so are all employees making over a hundred thousand dollars a year...more than a large percentage of our nation's air traffic control workforce.
Interestingly enough, if you scroll down to the $40,000 dollar range, you will find the new janitors...making almost ten thousand dollars more than a new air traffic controller.
CTI students...keep a toilet brush handy.
Stock Clerks and Kennel Attendants!

FAA - the "worst"

This just proves the faa hates you, why work for an employeer who hates you, regardless if you love the job or not.

It makes me laugh that people think making $100K is a lot of money. In this Country? Please...take a look around at what many people make. ATC should be a very high paying job, in line with Doctors and others.

Check out $99,379.....JANITOR!!!!!!!!!!! That's more than I make as a controller and I am on the old pay bands....U.F.R!

This is scary. I know cost of living there is higher than where I am at, but are you kidding me? I am really good at cleaning, I think I'll seriously look into it.

No, we should be ABOVE doctors. No slam on most doctors, but how many have had to make a split second decision?
Each and EVERY day I do.
Now Surgeons...different story. If you are cutting on me I want the BEST.
You can now see how this relates. Some controllers are crap. Some doctors are as well. You can shop around for a doctor, but you cant shop around in a "flying cigar" at 32000 feet.
Until you can "pick your ATC person", we should be compensatied.

Well, right backatcha...no slam on controllers, but how much education do you need to be a controller? A high school diploma and "three years of progressively responsible experience." We're not seriously going to say that we're worth more than doctors, are we? Anyway, as a center controller, I make MORE than many doctors and other professionals (lawyers, engineers, etc.).
Split second decisions? Really? I made one the other day. I decided to eat at Chili's instead of TGI Fridays.
But getting back to what I wanted to say---when I started in the FAA in '90, my salary was well below $30K until I checked out when it went up to $60K--I thought that was a great salary!
Yeah, the new hires aren't making an exorbitant salary, but we never made great salaries as developmentals. What seems fair to me is that if the pay was going to be cut, it should have been done effective September 3, 2006 and if one was an employee before that day, then the previous pay scale was still honored. If one hired on AFTER that day, then, well, at least they went in knowing what the score was. Not totally fair, but at least everyone would know what was happening before the rug got pulled out from under their feet.
The day I start bitchin' about my $140K salary is the day I walk out the door and find something else that pays better and lets me work half my work day and spend the other half of the day on break.
Just my 3.1415 cents...your mileage may vary.
