    I've decided to put up a photo album to share the TeamCarr pictures with. We take hundreds a week but only keep a few. If you were in NATCA between 2000 and 2006 you helped raise, encourage and tolerate my daughter and triplets, and for that I am very grateful. While some did not like the personal information I provided then I have had most of them killed so this should be a safe haven now. Enjoy!

Says it all. Cozy with the airlines and f*ck the fine controllers who keep the NAS running. Who did M. Blakely get a job with?

This could be fun! Let's do a roll call of FAA bigwigs who retired into airline jobs. I'll go first.

I recently heard Fred Ashendorf, former SUPCOM head honcho for the IWR "negotiating team" and Main Bang headliner, now works for Delta airlines. Next?

I don't think SouthWest is "exceding expectations".

ZME recently had a TMU FLM retire and report to FED EX the next day. He was in charge of implimenting metering at MEM.

It's (Oberstar hearing)on CSPAN right now...11:30 PST Saturday.

Fred does seem to have free time at work....

Congratulations to Fred Ashendorf of Commack, working as an Air Traffic Controller, for knowing the answer!

This was probably a day that Fred was suppose to be negotiating with NATCA on the nontract!

ToJo flys southwest..Nice, Whats nwxt?? Kami Kazis??

Tom McSweeny- former head of Aircraft Certification.

Denied the rumor of having any contacts with Boeing. Retired on a friday, began monday morning with...Boeing.

And let us not forget the one and only Maid Marion, who goes to work for the parent organization of the company who was awarded the contract for NexGen. And yet a controller is not allowed to own any stock that can in any way be connected with any airline. WTF? The FAA stinks of illegal activity, yet no one is being held accountable NOR are any of them being investigated - let alone brought up on charges. Something has GOT to break soon and I pray it's not the air traffic control system.

a few years ago the JFK ATM retired to work for JBU.

Google "Tom McSweeney Boeing".

He was involved with USAir Flight 427. If you recall, this is the 737 whose rudder jammed due to a mechanical design fault, causing it to flip over and dive straight into the ground 6 miles from Pittsburgh's runway. This same type of incident (uncommanded rudder movement) had occured in two other 737s prior to that, resulting in one accident and one near-crash.

Videos:
* Flight 427 Crash: http://youtube.com/watch?v=J6XtJtVlV2U&feature=related
* Investigation Part 4: http://youtube.com/watch?v=a_2xHHrSMyI&feature=user
* Investigation Part 5: http://youtube.com/watch?v=sYFEyp-bcWQ

During the 4 1/2 year investigation, McSweeney went to bat for Boeing, going so far to use Boeing promo materials to help convince the public that the 737 was perfectly safe. Even though evidence and simulations provided by the NTSB showed some kind of mechanically-induced rudder reversal, he was still doing presentations entitled "Data do not conclusively support any specific scenario." (Shouldn't it be "*does* not"?)

No wonder they hired him the day he retired out. He sounds like a regular "Baghdad Bob", yelling the "The Americans are all killing themselves on their bayonets!" while M1A2 Abrams mill around in the background.

So, that's three crashes before that part of the FAA actually admitted to there being a problem. From an ATC perspective, we've got already got Comair Flight 191. I'll guess we'll have to wait for two more before somebody at HQ gets smacked around enough to realize there's a problem. If it's a horrible midair collision, does that count as one or two accidents? How would you calculate that using FAA math?

A nice blast from the past- another reminder of when FAA MGT decides to cosy up to industry.

suupercub, thank you very much for the timely tip posted to this board. That Rep. Oberstar video on:
www.cpan.org
of today's press conference and Q-and-A, was awesome - including the verbal colloquy with the staffer caught on camera and audio at the end! Great A/V work! Loved it!

According to that end-of-video colloquy, the FAA-to-Southwest turncoat was paid off and hired - and filed a false written statement with the federal government about taking the planes out of service, when they hadn't been. It sounds like we now get to watch him either squirm or else Take 5 in the next Oberstar hearing, as soon as the Congressman's hip is better. Query if the McGwire "I'm not here to talk about the past", or the Palmiero finger-pointing, will work for aero-transition-boy.

Anyway, suupercub, thanks to you, I was able to timely use the contents of today's c-span video in my continued blog-pounding of Southwest at their own corporate blog-site at:
http://www.blogsouthwest.com/2008/03/07/southwest-airlines-ceo-appears-on-cnn/#comment-233341
and elsewhere in the blogosphere. It is very apparent that Southwest put a number of their employees to this weekend's task of blogging for spin-control, to tell the public that there's no danger. As the chief said in F-Troop, "IT IS BALLOON!!!" Unfortunately for Southwest, they hire lousy writers. But if anybody wants to blog back with me, the above link is a good start. Also Googling "Paula Berg+Southwest" will take you to some other related message boards. Many newspapers nationwide searchable through Yahoo, will allow posts on this topic to their boards.
And even if the Southwest/publicist coterie tries to take all MY many posts down: (1) there are more of you, than there are of me, and (2) there's always the great leveler of:

Tragic but true,

There's gotta be a terrible accident before any change occurs at the FAA.

There's gotta be an accident before any attention is given to air-traffic controllers & their plight re. unqualified recruits, lower pay & benefits.

Glad to help in any way I can (Oberstar hearing). Anybody know when the next Oberstar hearing is scheduled? I'd like to watch it in its entirety.
